Fly Fishing Blogger Showdown!

If you run a fishing blog, we know you can type -- a lot. But how well can you tie? Better than that other guy with the higher Google pagerank whose posts aren't nearly as insightful and witty as yours? Here's your chance to stick it to him, and make him jealous of your prizes.

Contest Details

Normal Common-Sense Rules

These apply to all Hacklehead contests. Entries breaking any rules may be removed by Troutnut or a moderator.

• The fly should be the main subject of the picture. (No background gimmicks.)
• Don't go rating everyone else's fly a 1 just to help yourself win. It'll be detected.
• You have to have tied the fly yourself, or submitted it on behalf of the tier.
• You can enter as many flies as you want in a contest, but no more than one picture of the same fly.

Special Rules for this Contest

Here's the real twist. I know how bloggers can be: you'll try to send people over here to give high ratings to your flies. In this one contest, that's not just allowed, it's encouraged. You'll need your best tying and blogging skills to pull out a win.

You have to have a fly fishing blog linked to in your user profile here. And you have to have Troutnut.com and Hacklehead.com in your blogroll (or wherever you keep your links). I'll apply the definition of "blog" loosely, but it's got to be a fly fishing site updated at least semi-regularly.

Prizes

Providing these prizes is the responsibility of Troutnut, who created the contest.

The winner gets three valuable prizes: bragging rights, bragging rights, and bragging rights.

Yeah, fine, that's only one. Prize number two is a link to your blog in the left sidebar of Troutnut.com for 1 year. Troutnut.com gets several hundred thousand visits per year, so it'll bring you some attention.

Prize #3? Money! Specifically, a $50 Orvis gift certificate.

These reflect the ratings the entries have received with respect to this contest, so depending on the settings they may differ slightly from the all-time or monthly ratings of the same fly. Only flies with at least 5 votes are ranked.
